The limited CD-mediabook comes including alternative cover-colouring, extended booklet, three bonus-live tracks and an exclusive pure fucking Metal patch.
For this brand new studio album, the successful Deathsters re-recorded several songs of their first three releases, "Black earth" ('96), "Stigmata" ('98) and "Burning bridges" ('99). Exceptional songstress Angela Gossow, brilliant axe men Michael and Christopher Amott, bass player Sharlee D'Angelo, and drummer Daniel Erlandsson have given it their all for these "old new" tracks. Especially the Amotts deliver a breathtaking performance. Very few of the more ambitious Death metal bands can boast such a well-oiled versatility. The production is also marvellous, providing melodic Death gems like "Beast of man", "Diva satanica" and "Bury me an angel" with additional dynamics, splendour and finesse. Any given Arch Enemy fan will hear how much the band still loves these old songs.

The idea to re-record a collection of songs of the first three records with Angela on vocals has not been accomplished, yet, first, the seventh Arch Enemy-opus, "Rise of the tyrant" is on its way. "We want to re-record those songs that we did with Johan Liiva that we would like to play live, too. It's a shame that there are many people who only know us since "Wages of sin", drummer Daniel Erlandsson claims. "In a perfect world, we will be finished until next year. Till then, the band has a strenuous tour programme on their list: as co-headliner of Machine Head through the U.S. and other parts of the world as well as with other top notch artists in Europe, such as Dragonforce, Shadows Fall and Trivium. Beside some musical surprises, also the return of guitarist Christopher Amott delighted the fans all over the world. "I did not believe that he would return to Arch Enemy so quickly. He left us to go back to school. The few years have obviously shown him that it is his mission to be a musician. For Frederik, who has greatly teamed up with us over 18 months, it is surely a bit mean. But the two guitar playing Amott brothers have always been our trademark and it is good to have him back as a friend." Maybe, Frederik Akesson with his introverted way fits his new band, Opeth, better, anyway – a band that moves much less wildly on stage. "I haven't though about that. The first sketches of the 'Rise of the tyrant' songs were written in early stages of the 'Doomsday machine' tour in the bus and in hotel rooms, in part with Frederik. He will be recognising a lot. We couldn't rehearse the finished songs any more because we put in a little tour through Southern America early this year with some local supports." And then, Christopher stood in front of the door – and the unexpected return into the new Fredman-Studio. "Each album is a reaction on the one before. This time, we wanted the album to be more open than "Doomsday machine". Also, Frederik's sound is more bombastic and more relaxed than that of Andy Sneap. Beside the eleven songs on the album and the Queensryche-song for the "Revolution begins"-single we recorded three more covers, one of them is a song from Kiss", the ex-Eucharist-drummer at least gives some information. Maybe, the others are of the often mentioned, influential Vicious Rumors and Metal Church? Meanwhile, Erlandsson is often requested interview partner for drummers' magazines. "Unfortunately, some concert visitors don't care for drum solos", he sighs. "That's why I like to play a composition live that is based on parts of "I am legend/Out for blood", instead of a conventional solo".
After causing significant damage throughout the world over the past
two years with their Doomsday Machine, the mighty ARCH ENEMY
triumphantly return with possibly the landmark album of their already
heralded career. For this new masterpiece, "Rise of The Tyrant",
these masters of metal have returned to acclaimed producer Fredrik
Nordström (Dimmu Borgir, In Flames, At The Gates) at Studio
Fredman, where the band had recorded all of their albums through
"Wages Of Sin" (2001). ARCH ENEMY mastermind Michael Amott
(guitars) states: "Rise of The Tyrant", is the ultimate ARCH ENEMY
album! To me, it sounds like the perfect mix of melody and brutality.
This disc is an organic and honest statement from the band – it’s
pure f**king metal at its absolute best, the ARCH ENEMY way.
ARCH ENEMY’s previous album, "Doomsday Machine", mixed by
Andy Sneap (Megadeth, Killswitch Engage, Nevermore), turned out
to be the band’s most successful release to date, achieving
impressive chart positions in countries like the USA (#87), Germany
(#34) or the UK (#81), to name but a few. It lead directly to the band
securing appearances on both the prestigious Ozzfest and Gigantour
in North America, as part of what became the most aggressive and
intense touring cycle in ARCH ENEMY’s career. A total of four North
American tours, two visits to Australia, several tours in UK and
Europe (incl. slots at festivals like Download, Wacken, With Full
Force, Graspop, Fields Of Rock, etc.), two visits to Japan and culminating the marathon run in early 2007 in South
America. Success was further enhanced by the release of their debut DVD "Live Apocalypse" in 2006 which was
hailed the world over as the essential extreme metal DVD.
Following the release of this new album, ARCH ENEMY will make their much-anticipated return to European stages
in Nov./Dec. as part of the "Black Crusade" tour with Machine Head, Trivium, Dragonforce and Shadows Fall, with
more worldwide live activity to follow. Charged with unmatched musicianship and inspired songwriting, never letting
up on the power yet displaying prominently the band’s trademark melodic edge, "Rise of The Tyrant" ultimately
redefines the genre ARCH ENEMY helped to create. Behold the tyrant’s rise…
