On their second album the Italian band focus on their style and move up tothe direction of Dream Theater. Catchy melodies connected to dignified heaviness dominate the album.

EMP Editorial Team:

Pathosray definitely don't sound like an Italian band. Which is good - that lets you get rid of the prejudices some people have with bands from there: this combo proves impressively that you don't necessarily have to live up to the musical cliché of your home country. Pathosray rather sound innovative and confident, having devoted themselves to Metal's biggest challenge, Progressive Metal. And the blokes give us their best, offering us a clever mixture of melodies, technical prowess, and (not too intense, though) symphonic elements. I'd say their closest neighbours are Dream Theater, Symphony X, and Pagan`s Mind. The strong, catchy melodies in combination with a certain stately heaviness on this album really win you over, with tracks such as "Poltergeist", "Behind the shadows" or "Aurora" as party boosters. Also a plus: the songs are not too pomp-laden, yet very exciting. A great sophomore album. (Jürgen Tschamler / 29.04.2009)
